The optimal location to hang a ceiling fan is simply over places where people gather. Keep in mind that blade tips should be at least 12 inches from walls, sloped ceilings or forced-air vents. Installation height must be, at minimum, 7 ½ feet between the bottom of the blades and the floor. For optimum fan performance, a 9-10 foot clearance is recommended.
